Steinway Concert Series: Piano & Viola

Steinway Indonesia proudly presented the Steinway Concert Series: Piano & Viola, featuring pianist Vivianne Laurence and violist Elbert Nugroho in an intimate afternoon of music at Steinway Gallery Indonesia.

Held on Saturday, 19 September 2026, the concert brought together music enthusiasts and audiences for a programme exploring the distinctive colours of piano and viola through solo and collaborative performances. The programme featured Robert Schumann's Märchenbilder, Op. 113, selections from Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007, Amy Beach's Dreaming, Op. 15, No. 3, and Bach's Was mir behagt, ist nur die muntre Jagd, BWV 208, alongside Georgian Dance. Through these works, Vivianne Laurence and Elbert Nugroho explored contrasting musical characters, moving between intimate solo repertoire and expressive dialogue between the two instruments.

The concert offered audiences an opportunity to experience the expressive possibilities of piano and viola within an intimate setting. Each performance revealed a different musical character, from the lyrical and reflective qualities of solo repertoire to the dynamic interplay created through collaboration. As part of the Steinway Concert Series, the afternoon celebrated the artistry of two musicians while highlighting the enduring role of live performance in bringing music and audiences together. Through their interpretation and musical dialogue, Vivianne Laurence and Elbert Nugroho created an engaging afternoon of chamber music at Steinway Gallery Indonesia.
